DOOH King of the Hill
Paint the screens
DOOH King of the Hill is a 3D game set in Manchester Piccadilly Gardens. Players paint D6 digital-out-of-home screens to win impressions — a playful version of filling a space with out-of-home inventory.
I always liked the game De Blob on the Wii. I used to play it with my kids. It has really nice physics, and painting a white city with colour struck a chord with me about how filling the space with impressions on DOOH boards was similar.
Gameplay: a player paints D6 boards around Piccadilly Gardens. Screens change colour as impressions are claimed. WASD to move, drag to orbit.
Open the live gameSame idea, different format
I've been playing around with 3D immersive experiences lately (see the King's Cross agent simulation) and this just seemed like a fun way of stretching outside my normal day to day job. I like to challenge the status quo and I thought this was a fun way of getting over the same concept as the agent simulation, but in an innovative format.
Why Piccadilly Gardens
It's based on Manchester Piccadilly Gardens, which is naturally self-constrained, is immediately recognisable to those who have been there, has the theatre of the trams, and importantly it has a ton of D6 screens. I consciously left out the homeless people and the food delivery bikes (if you know, you know).
How to play
Open the live build. WASD or arrows to move, space to jump, drag to orbit, wheel to zoom. Play against a bot offline or online, or create a two-player room. Paint the screens, win the impressions.
Anyway, enjoy. I had a lot of fun doing it, and from the first working version I knew it was going to come together. After that it was just polish.

How do you play?
WASD or arrows to move, space to jump, drag to orbit, wheel to zoom. Play against a bot offline or online, or create a two-player room.
How does it relate to the King's Cross simulation?
Both are Skyrise Labs experiments about filling space with DOOH. The King's Cross build is an agent simulation of verified views; King of the Hill is the same idea as a game.
